Ira Wright (Seth Rogen) is a struggling stand-up comedian and huge fan of comedy legend George Simmons (Adam Sandler). When the two perform on the same bill at a comedy club in LA they strike up a friendship as Ira tries his best to learn from George. When George tells Ira that he is dying from an incurable illness the two try and make the most of what time they have together. In the midst of all this George also becomes smitten with Laura a married woman whose husband is a less than likeable character.
