With her husband Saro running a shop acting as a front for a drugs operation Angela is literally married to the mob. Participating in her husband's business by delivering drugs disguised in shoeboxes Angela is relegated to the sidelines a peripheral figure in a potentially dangerous world. All that changes when Masino appears and turns her world on its head. Ingratiating himself to Saro Masino forms a more hazardous liasion with Angela. Both become aware that this affair poses a dangerous threat to their livelihoods and more importantly their lives. Like Cassavete's Gloria Angela shows mafia life purely from the female perspective and as such offers an inventive take on the genre. Based on true-life events from the mid-80's it's a gripping distinguished work of passion and intrigue which bought the astonishing Finocchario the Best Actress Award at the Tokyo International Film Festival.
